Kiddo's GIMP lightsaber tutorial
Remember Ryan Weiber's famous tutorial for making lightsabers in Adobe Photoshop? Well this is an adapted version that I made for the GNU Image Manipulation Tool (GIMP). You can now be a Jedi without using proprietary tools!
My video tutorial is about 6 minutes long and weights 62 MiB (original OGG Theora file). It can be downloaded or viewed from these places:
- archived on my slow home server, as long as I have a working Internet connection. I recommend avoiding this, by all means
- a mirror kindly provided by Forthfreak.net
- watching it directly from Google Video below:
I do not pretend my tutorial is perfect. Far from it, I would be very interested in having your comments. I was mainly focused on trying to reproduce at 100% Ryan's final output (for comparison purposes), but, of course, computer generated art such as lightsabers is highly subjective.
